Tank discovered Monique Péan’s line of handcrafted, eco-friendly, sustainable fine jewellery at Joseph’s Rocks, Stones and Metal exhibition, a showcase event that gathered niche and established jewellery designers to sell their pieces and donate 10 per cent of the proceeds to Unicef. A CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund winner in 2009, Péan had come a long way fast – she only left her Goldman Sachs investment-banking job to focus on fine jewellery in 2006. Unlike most bankers-turned-designers, though, Péan is gifted with a genuinely discerning eye, and has been meticulous in finding and working with sustainable, ethical sourcing and production processes. She has managed to combine sharply cut, devastation-free diamonds with soft farmed pearls, natural shell, fossilised woolly mammoth and walrus ivory to create a beautiful collection you’ll adore. §
