Published by Breakdown Press, a small, London-based comics publisher, this book is the latest in a series of hard-to-find Japanese manga with new translations by Ryan Holmberg. Sasaki Maki was born in Kobe, Japan in 1946, and is an artist, author and illustrator who started writing experimental manga in the mid-1960s. This book covers his first decade of work; a mix of flat mono-tonal line drawings and fantastical, hallucinogenic subject matter draw on influences as varied as Yellow Submarine director George Dunning and traditional Nihonga painting.
