On a hot day in June 2012, crowds started to gather on the streets of Milan. The then Catholic leader, Benedict XVI, was visiting the city, which was hosting the International Theological Pastoral Congress, the Meeting of Families. Lining the city barriers were men and women hoping to catch a glimpse of the bulletproof glass cage that is the Popemobile. Photographer Lorenzo Tricoli was on the scene, not to photograph the man, but the crowds themselves. Where is the Pope? is a high-gloss zine, a meditation on the nature of waiting and anticipation, and an exposition of the faces in the crowd.
