Carolina Prada Bianchi for Tank shares her life in Milan on the app that's taking over our lives, Instagram.
27 million people around the world are now snapping pictures of kittens, coffee, and achingly cool lives, uploading them to the app we're all hooked on. Picking out the filters that give the fuzzy haze of the '70s, and '80s Polaroids or cross-processed '90s images, we're sharing our, quite literally, rose tinted reality with the masses.
Instagram turns photographs into the sort found taped into our parents photo albums. It leans heavily on nostalgia to draw us in. With the swipe of a finger we tell ourselves that life used to be nothing but a looping Super 8 reel of memories of summer evenings and young romance. That the '60s were where it's at, that generations before were free.
We're shortcutting our way into the territory of the hip (and shortcutting any messy chemicals, failed photography attempts and effort in the process). Follow Carolina's Instagram in this short film.
